The next 36 months will fundamentally reshape human civilization as we know it. This isn’t science fiction or distant future speculation – we’re on the brink of the most significant technological leap in human history, culminating in Artificial Super Intelligence (ASI). As someone who’s been deeply embedded in the AI industry, I’m seeing patterns emerge that have even the most seasoned tech veterans stunned by what’s coming.
The Unprecedented Nature of This Revolution
Unlike previous technological revolutions, this transformation brings something we’ve never seen before: it’s simultaneously better, faster, safer, and cheaper. Think about historical transitions – when we moved from horses to cars, the change wasn’t necessarily safer or cheaper. It was often more expensive and potentially more dangerous due to higher speeds. It was not necessarily better.
But this is true with almost every adaption throughout history. That’s why I predict the automation cliff to be so strong.
Experts say they have never seen anything like this – not even during the rise of cloud computing. The coming AI revolution will completely break the mold of everything we’ve ever known.
The Three Patterns Driving Us Toward ASI
What makes me so confident about this timeline? Three critical patterns have emerged that are accelerating our journey toward ASI:
- Cracked Scaling Laws: We’ve finally decoded the mathematical relationship between compute power, data, and AI intelligence. This means the path to ASI isn’t guesswork anymore – it’s pure mathematics.
- Inference Time Breakthroughs: We’ve discovered that simply allowing AI models more time to think (what experts call inference time compute scaling) leads to exponential improvements in capability.
- Mastery of Distillation: Perhaps most crucially, we’ve figured out how to make AI systems teach each other, with each generation becoming exponentially smarter than its predecessor.
2025: The Year of the Automation Cliff
As we approach the rest of 2025, we’re about to witness what experts call the “automation cliff.” This isn’t about incremental change – it’s about wholesale transformation. The emergence of autonomous agents will reshape how work gets done. These aren’t simple chatbots; they’re sophisticated AI systems working in swarms, each with varying levels of independence.
The automation cliff isn't gradual.

It's binary.
One day everything works normally.
The next day AI does your entire job.
2025 isn't the future.
It's here, NOW.
What makes this particularly fascinating is that these autonomous agents will be classified similarly to how we rate self-driving cars, creating a spectrum of AI independence. Some will require human oversight for every decision, while others will operate entire processes independently.
This year, adapting to AI is crucial. There will be a big difference between those who adapt and those who don’t, as seen in the image below.
The Road to ASI: 2026 and Beyond
The progression toward ASI accelerates dramatically in 2026 with the emergence of truly embodied autonomy. This is when digital intelligence enters the physical world through advanced robotics. Companies like Figure and Boston Dynamics are already shipping their first humanoid robots, and Nvidia predicts solving the Robot World Model by mid-2026 – a crucial step toward ASI.
Of course, the latest robot models are quite expensive as of today. Humanoid bots cost around $80,000-$100,000 – not what you or I could easily add to our budget. But robots that perform basic tasks can be bought for $2,000-$10,000, the price of a used car. And as we go on further into the AI revolution, these prices are set to plummet.
2027: The ASI Threshold
By 2027, we’re set to cross the threshold into full ASI territory. This is when AI systems begin improving themselves without human intervention, creating a feedback loop that accelerates development beyond human comprehension. What’s particularly striking is that every major AI lab has figured this out simultaneously – there’s no single company controlling this future.
The AI you’re using today is the worst it will ever be. Each new model will be dramatically more capable than its predecessor, with improvements happening at a pace that’s leaving even experts struggling to keep up. When industry leaders like Elon Musk predict the beginnings of ASI by April 2025, and Google’s AI lead suggests we’re on a direct path to artificial super intelligence, we need to pay attention.
Preparing for the ASI Future
As we stand on the brink of this transformation, it’s crucial to understand that unlike previous revolutions that took decades to unfold, this one is happening in months. The companies that will thrive are those brave enough to be first movers – those willing to adapt, pivot, and build futures that embrace AI capabilities.
This isn’t just another tech trend to watch from the sidelines. We’re witnessing the biggest shift in human capability since the Industrial Revolution, and it’s happening in real-time. The progression toward ASI isn’t just inevitable; it’s imminent.
The question isn’t whether this transformation will happen – it’s whether you and your organization will be ready when it does. The future belongs to those who understand that ASI isn’t just coming; it’s already beginning to reshape our world in ways we’re only starting to comprehend.
Remember: This isn’t about replacing human intelligence – it’s about augmenting and expanding what’s possible when human creativity meets artificial super intelligence. The next three years will show us just how transformative this partnership can be.
The next question is: are you ready?
